About Sebel Reef House and Spa 

Sebel Reef House and Spa is an intimate luxury resort located on the beachfront of Palm Cove. Built in 1958, The Sebel Reef House boasts character and history like no other resort in Palm Cove. Starting out as just a restaurant with a few guest suites, The Sebel Reef House and Spa has grown to the 69 suite boutique hotel that it is today.

Although the times have changed and the hotel has been upgraded to withhold its luxurious five star status, the original ambiance and character of the resort has remained.

The Brigadiers Bar was named after Brigadier the Hon. David Thompson who purchased the property in 1972 and turned it into a guest house. The Brigadiers Bar holds a tradition that is uniquely charming. Guests staying at The Sebel Reef House can enjoy refreshments at the bar on an honour system which hasn’t changed since the early 70’s.

Other facets that make this resort truly unique include the candlelit corridors reflecting an ancient colonial theme, soft floating music, unique artefacts collected from around the world, elegant water features and tropical gardens.

Sebel Reef House and Spa is centrally positioned on Palm Cove’s esplanade close to all the restaurants and shops in the village.

The Rooms 

There are eight room types at The Sebel Reef House and Spa. Each of the rooms have these common features: Ceiling fans and air-conditioners; furnished patios or balconies that feature both indoor and outdoor living; tea and coffee facilities, a small refrigerator, and mini bar that works on an honour system; a LCD TV and DVD player, telephones and an in-room safe; daily servicing, an iron and ironing board; a turn down service and bathrobes. All rooms are decorated with hand crafted artefacts and have king sized beds with romantic upholstery.

Brigadier Rooms

Brigadier rooms are designed to capture the elegant ambiance of a bygone era. These studio rooms feature a private furnished balcony or patio overlooking the pool or gardens and feature a romantic double lounge swing. Brigadier Rooms have a king sized bed and a single bathroom with a shower.

Brigadier Beachfront Spa Rooms

Brigadier Beachfront Spa rooms are similar to the Brigadier rooms but overlook the beach and have romantic double spas.

Verandah Rooms

Verandah Rooms face the swimming pool or the tropical gardens and have spacious outdoor verandas. These elegantly tropical rooms have either a king sized bed or two single beds and a special access (disabled) room is also available.

Verandah Spa Rooms

Similar to the Verandah Rooms, Verandah Spa Rooms have a luxurious double spa on the verandah. These rooms are great for honeymoons or romantic retreats and have one king sized bed.

Family Rooms

Family rooms cater for groups of 4-5 and have a spacious living area with a king sized bed and a separate bedroom with two single beds. Rollaway beds are also available at an additional cost.

Endeavour Suites

Endeavour Suites are perfect for families seeking more privacy as they have two separate bedrooms, each with an ensuite. There is a separate living area which is comfortably designed and an elevated outdoor furnished terrace area which looks out onto the pools and gardens. These suites have two king sized beds or a king sized bed and two singles. Rollaway beds are also available at an additional cost. This suite is ideal for families, groups or two couples.

Beachfront Suites

Beachfront Suites enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Palm Cove Beach and Double Island on the horizon. These rooms have a separate bedroom with a king sized bed, a private balcony, an ensuite and views of the beach.

The Reef Suite

This premier suite features expansive views of Palm Cove Beach and the shimmering Coral Sea. Two separate bedrooms each have their own ensuite bathroom and a central living area opens up onto a spacious balcony overlooking the water. The bedrooms consist of two king beds or one king bed and two single beds.

The Food

Sebel Reef House and Spa has three dining venues catering for all tastes and styles.

Reef House Restaurant

The Reef House Restaurant sits on an expansive patio overlooking the palm lined streets and Coral Sea. Executive Chef Philip Mitchell acquires fresh seafood from the Coral Sea and produce from the nearby Tablelands. The menu combines Mediterranean, Asian and Australia Cuisine creating a truly unique assemblage of gastronomy. The sumptuous food is only surpassed by the stunning natural environment. The Reef House Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is available for intimate gatherings and functions.

Poolside Restaurant

The Pool Side Restaurant is located poolside and surrounded by lush tropical gardens; it is open for lunch and available for private functions.

Brigadiers Bar and Lounge

Brigadier’s Bar operates on an honour system working on the same system it did nearly 50 years ago. Complimentary punch is served nightly at the candlelit bar and authentic artefacts from around the world are displayed.

The Spa

Palm Cove is known as the Spa Capital of Australia and the Spa at Sebel Reef House was voted the #1 spa in the South Pacific by The Reader’s Spa Awards in the 2005, and as one of the top 10 spas in the world by the European Conde De Nast traveller’s publication.

Surrounded by a fresh water moat and complemented by white washed walls, terracotta tiles and rich native timbers The Reef House Spa encourages deep relaxation and rejuvenation. When you walk into the spa you will be greeted by a friendly host in the open aired reception lobby.

There are three state of the art treatment rooms, and a spiral staircase that leads up to the ‘serenity verandah’. There are two dual treatment rooms with double spas, 2 Vichy Showers and a hand crafted leaf shaped massage table created from ancient Melaleuca wood. Only the finest Li’Tya products are used and aboriginal spirituality and treatments are incorporated into the methods and treatments at The Reef House Spa.

The Services and Facilities

The Sebel Reef House Spa has several elegant facilities as well as nature’s beautiful Palm Cove Beach which is just across the street. At Sebel Reef House and Spa you will find three luxurious swimming pools (two freshwater and one salt water) and two spas highlighted with cascading waterfalls and a footbridge, and surrounded by luscious tropical foliage.

The complex also has a restaurant and two bars, conference and function facilities, a day spa, a boutique gift shop, tour desk, 24 hour room service and reception, porter service, guest laundry, daily maid service, undercover parking, and complimentary CD/DVD, books and games.

For the Business Traveller

Sebel Reef House and Spa is a beautiful spot to hold your conference, incentive or meeting. Up to 50 delegates can be held in the Melaleuca Conference room and outside gatherings and break out areas can also be arranged at the garden terrace and around the poolside bar.

Wireless and broadband internet and a facsimile service is also available for business travellers.

For Families

The family room and Endeavour suites are perfect for families and offer space, comfort and privacy. If you are not out snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef or trekking through the rainforest the three swimming pools, beach and playground (which are right across the street) will keep the children more then entertained.

For Groups

Sebel Reef House and Spa suites groups of all sized. With several different room types there is something available for large families, dual- couples, business colleagues, family reunions and weddings.

The Sebel Reef House and Spa serves as a picturesque backdrop for your tropical Palm Cove Wedding. Packages start at $1260 and include fees, licences, administration costs, venue hire, bouquets, wedding cake, Australian sparkling wine and a witness (if needed).
